“The Importance of Understanding the Legal History of the American West.”

On Thursday, November 6, 2014 beginning at 4:00 pmProfessor Patty Limerick will speak on “The Importance of Understanding the Legal History of the American West.”  There will be a reception after the program, lasting until 6:00 pm.  

Professor Limerick is the Faculty Director of the Center of the American West at the University of Colorado. 

The program will be in Courtroom 1 at the Byron White Courthouse.  There will be overflow space in Courtroom 2 with a closed-circuit video connection. Please allow extra time before the 4:00 pm program to get through courthouse security.

This program is co-sponsored by the Tenth Circuit Historical Society and the American Society for Legal History.  The ASLH is holding its 2014 annual meeting in Denver from November 6-9.

Presentation by John R. Tunheim

John R. Tunheim, U.S. Chief Judge of the US District Court, District of Minnesota. Judge Tuheim was Chair of teh U.S> Assassination Records Review Board, which facilitated public disclosure of records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He also assists with the development of law, constitutions, and criminal justice systems in emerging governments, including Kosovo, the Republic of Georgia, and Uzbekistan. The presentation is complimentary with a reception to follow. R.s.v.p is requested.
